Its so hard to know where to begin, there are so so many stories. This year in July 2020 Tony & Diane met up with me an my daughter Hannah for a lovely lunch in our hotel (St Ives harbour hotel.) Hannah hadn't got to know Tony as her only memories were of when she was very small. I digress here to Millennium night Myself (Frostie ) Jim my Mum and our 3 kids (Perry 10, Hannah 7 & Ellie 4 ) all went to spend the evening with Mandy an Tony. That day Tony was given the task of hanging a huge mirror above the fireplace! Oliver was at the crawling stage and he only had a nappy on. My girls were fussing over him as he was like a real life dolly. Oliver crawled away with the girls following, Just as there was an all mighty crash as the mirror fell exactly where Oliver an the girls had just been playing! Someone was looking over them that night ! BUT..... Tony was in big big trouble with Mandy ! We never forgot that night! Anyway back to Cornwall. We went into the restaurant for lunch Tony ordered with a flourish an insisted to the tad grumpy waiter he did NOT want the Lemon with his crab salad. So in Tony style when the waiter brings the salad Tony asks where is his LEMON ??? Hannah & I were giggling far too much. After our meal I accompanied Diane to a car park to collect Tony's car. Leaving Hannah in charge of Tony, Hannah had to get Tony into one of those weird vintage lifts where you have to slide the door shut. After convincing him it would all be ok she shut him in. As the lift set off an she climbed the stairs she could hear him shouting HELP the whole time just for dramatic effect. It made her laugh so so much. As she escorted him to the lobby of the hotel he with his crutches. They both skidded on a designer rope type rug. Tony convinced he nearly broke his back. When I re joined them they were both sat laughing so hard on a sofa. It was a joy to see.
Another crazy story was from a trip to Brighton pier when the kids were small. We had finished playing on the machines on the pier which Tony loved. As we walked along the pier I spied through the planks on the floor a gold bracelet. Tony decided to call the pier caretakers to rescue said bracelet. It was a major kerfuffle they went down a service hatch. By this time Tony had convinced them it was a family heirloom as only Tony could. When they handed it to us we could all see it was a piece of tat from the grab machines. But Tony styled it out as we scuttled of the pier in hysterics with our heirloom.
Just a few of my many memories of a crazy funny guy. Over the years Tony has helped us greatly with lots of financial advice he is a genius. He was so proud of Jacob & Oliver. Mandy & Tony did a great job raising such lovely young men.
A honour to have know him, such a great loss
